So, you just played a game. And you lost. From here you have a few options on what to do. The first is to be upset and blame everything, throw models and storm off ( Yes, I have seen this happen). Rules Clarification: Disable, Boxed, Destroyed

Alright! You did enough damage to remove that annoying model from the game that has been holding you up from scoring the zone…. But they have a tough roll…. When does that happen? Well, that is what we will be talking about today. When a model is damaged enough to be removed from the table, there is a order of steps that actually happen to a model before hand. These are Disable, Boxed and then Destroyed.

Simple, easy to remember and straightforward. BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE!

In our ongoing series to clarify rules that sometimes get a little clunky, I have received several questions regarding line of sight and the rules that modify line of sight and how they work.  While this won’t be a huge rules clarification post, it is an important.  So, let’s dive in.

Understanding line of sight is one of the most critical functions of the game.  Who can see what models, and what can be targeted by attacks and at what ranges is often clean cut, but when we start adding rules like stealth and eyeless sight, it can become very difficult to determine out what rules work and where they work, vs when some rules don’t work or when they don’t work as intended.  In this document, we are doing to discuss Eyeless Sight, Mage Sight, Phantom Seeker, Stealth, Birds Eye, and True Sight.

Caster Focus: Doomshaper2

A few weeks ago we talked about what a Beast caster is and how they work on table. Some are not as clear as others. Doomshaper2, also known as Doomshaper Rage of Dhunia, is very much and in every way a clear Warbeast caster. The old man of the Trollbloods, Doomshaper became a bit more cranky in his second versions. Today, we are looking at what he brings to the Trollblood army and how he plays. Doomshaper2 takes the normal style of the army and shifts it slightly to the more primal and beastual side of the game. This is evident on every section of his cards.

How to “Git Gud” – List Selection Expanded, & Deployment

Carrying on from Part 1 and Part 2, today I’ll briefly touch on list selection considerations relative to scenario, and deploying relative to the scenario with an eye on your end game.

Scenario impact of List Selection

Firstly, why is this even relevant?  Well, you may correctly predict their drop and counter-drop accordingly, but if the list you drop is shite in the scenario in question then you’re probably making it harder on yourself than you need to.

Main considerations:

  • Is it Killbox?
  • How slow is the scenario?
  • How wide is the scenario?


This can be broken down a little further:

  • Is it Killbox?
  • If yes, does my opponent’s likely drop have the tools to capitalise on my ‘caster being further forward than I’d perhaps like?
  • If yes, are there counter-plays available to me?  i.e. Can I make it a risky play that is unlikely to succeed
